Couldn't resist this.

Scene 8

Romanes Eunt Domus

    [scary music]
CENTURION:
What's this, then? 'Romanes Eunt Domus'? 'People called Romanes they go the house'?

BRIAN:
It-- it says, 'Romans, go home'.

CENTURION:
No, it doesn't. What's Latin for 'Roman'? Come on!

BRIAN:
    Aah!

CENTURION:
    Come on!

BRIAN:
    'R-- Romanus'?

CENTURION:
    Goes like...?

BRIAN:
    'Annus'?

CENTURION:
    Vocative plural of 'annus' is...?

BRIAN:
    Eh. 'Anni'?

CENTURION:
    'Romani'. 'Eunt'? What is 'eunt'?

BRIAN:
    'Go'. Let--

CENTURION:
    Conjugate the verb 'to go'.

BRIAN:
Uh. 'Ire'. Uh, 'eo'. 'Is'. 'It'. 'Imus'. 'Itis'. 'Eunt'.

CENTURION:
    So 'eunt' is...?

BRIAN:
Ah, huh, third person plural, uh, present indicative. Uh, 'they go'.

CENTURION:
But 'Romans, go home' is an order, so you must use the...?

BRIAN:
    The... imperative!

CENTURION:
    Which is...?

BRIAN:
Umm! Oh. Oh. Um, 'i'. 'I'!

CENTURION:
    How many Romans?

BRIAN:
Ah! 'I'-- Plural. Plural. 'Ite'. 'Ite'.

CENTURION:
    'Ite'.

BRIAN:
    Ah. Eh.

CENTURION:
    'Domus'?

BRIAN:
    Eh.

CENTURION:
    Nominative?

BRIAN:
    Oh.

CENTURION:
'Go home'? This is motion towards. Isn't it, boy?

BRIAN:
Ah. Ah, dative, sir! Ahh! No, not dative! Not the dative, sir! No! Ah! Oh, the... accusative! Accusative! Ah! 'Domum', sir! 'Ad domum'! Ah! Oooh! Ah!

CENTURION:
    Except that 'domus' takes the...?

BRIAN:
    The locative, sir!

CENTURION:
    Which is...?!

BRIAN:
    'Domum'.

CENTURION:
    'Domum'.

BRIAN:
    Aaah! Ah.

CENTURION:
    'Um'. Understand?

BRIAN:
    Yes, sir.

CENTURION:
Now, write it out a hundred times.

BRIAN:
Yes, sir. Thank you, sir. Hail Caesar, sir.

CENTURION:
Hail Caesar. If it's not done by sunrise, I'll cut your balls off.

BRIAN:
Oh, thank you, sir. Thank you, sir. Hail Caesar and everything, sir!

Glomming onto the Monty Python slant, I'll add a Wink, wink, nudge, nudge!

BTW, Bradley, the bass that's the reason for this thread in the first place, is amazing! Congrats!

Bradley Young

Rumor has it that there might be some updates coming soon...

flaxattack

hmmmm
i wonder if i should make a bet with you brad

Bradley Young

I don't know...

All the custom pieces are pretty much sorted, including the newly christened fatmanchu tailpiece.

Inlay is complete, and I'm hoping to get some pics from the spray department shortly.  Nudge, wink- hey Mica...

mele_aloha

BRADLEY!!!

Your not spreading viscious rumors are you? hehe

Bradley Young

Paul,

I would not spread any viscous rumors, only solid ones.

I just can't pass on a good pun.

Bradley's seen one of these pictures already.  Before cutting the wood for the inlay:

  During the cutting process:

My timing has been terrible for getting a picture of your bass before it's prepped so you can see it with the inlay in place. I'll keep trying!

mele_aloha

Whoa Bradley, Nice! It's coming along beautifully, congrads!

Bradley Young

Woo hoo!

Looks like my bass took a trip to the casting couch, and then went under the knife for some cosmetic surgery.

And it now has a hole for the master volume, I see.

I'm psyched!

Now the waiting for the tailpiece begins.

Bradley Young

Decisions, decisions.

The voting is now open--  Slender bird or fatmanchu?  For reference, the fatmanchu would probably go on a diet to be slimmed up a little.  Participation open only to legal residents of the Alembic Club, purchase not necessary to win.  Enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope in your contest submission.  One man, one vote (and I'm the man-- you can call me Havelock!)

tbrannon

I'm loving the slender bird- but perhaps it simply because the brass looks nicer than the wood prototype for fattyboomboom.

my vote goes to the slender bird
