So, what do the extra knobs do?

I had two master volumes put on the lower horn, a la Entwistle, with a switch to choose between them.  On the horn nearest the bridge, I have CVQs, Volume/Filters for each pickup, on/off for the LEDs ... plus the 1/4 jack and the five pin connector.

Hi Alan. I'm confused now. Surely the point of a master volume is to turn 'everything' up or down with one knob. Can you explain the thinking behind having two master volumes please?

may I step in with an answer on this?
John did use this feature on his cone head Spyders but not on his V-head Spyder. John didn?t work with any volume pedals back then and he had set the two master volumes at two needed settings so that he could change the loudness within a song only with a flick of the switch. You can see and hear this clearly on the isoladed tracks where he just flicks the switch to change from a louder to a less louder part, also in songs like Behind Blue Eyes. That is the, very simple, reason.

Thanks for the update Oliver, I guess that clears up the mystery. I'm just glad we have volume pedals these days - I wouldn't want too many knobs hiding all that beautiful woodwork ;-)

Thank you Oliver , I must comment that i did not know  this as well.
              John Entwistle was a brilliant musician with an incredible  mind, I feel lucky that I had the opportunity to see him live with the WHO with Keith Moon still with us at the time, I saw the WHO in their original line up play at the Oakland Coliseum (Day on the Green ,BGP} with the GRATEFUL DEAD_ What an awesome show that was !  I have a Black & White 8X10   photo of him playing at that show hanging on my the wall in my studio. He is on the same wall with Phil Lesh, Jack Casady  and Stanley Clark and they are all playing Alembic's. I call that wall ; THE  ALEMBIC WALL !

Well, the explanation for that is really simple, also for me, it was that simple that I didn?t understand at first why he did it that way...

Thanks for the reply here. I got the word through email and checked that it was on the work order. As far as I know, your bass is in final cure right now, so it's getting awfully close.
