James:

Welcome to the Electrum Club - a VERY select sub-group of the Alembic Club.  Looking at this new picture, I am even more impressed with the top.  I don't think I've ever seen a piece of maple quite like it before.  As I noted earlier, it looks like a combination of flame, quilt, and burl on the same piece!  Very far out!  Enjoy.

Out of curiosity, how would you describe the spacing on your strings?  Mine is quite narrowly spaced, the strings are noticibly closer together than on my Strat, for instance.  (I plan on having Alembic look at it and widen the spacing, if possible, when I get back another guitar that Gary Brawer is modifying for me).

Thanks - I'm thrilled.  I've played an SG Firebrand for 17 years - this is quite a change for me. The spacing is much smaller than I am used to and overall smaller neck. The frets are also much higher but lend themselves to a very clean, 'bright' (in a good way), and pronounced tone.  Speaking of tone, much, much more versatile than the SG and up to the challenge of taking on the great tone that I am used to.  A wonderfully light guitar but getting used to the strap on the top rather than behind the neck - balance odd at this point. Not as 'fast' as I am used to - but has a lot to teach me...and I am in need!  Thanks to all the Alembic staff past and present for presenting these works of art that will outlast us all.

Very nice, and that's a wild piece of maple!

Staemius, you have almost a twin (at least in general configuration) at a Japanese site:
