So, I'm brand new to this group, and have never owned an Alembic. BUT, I think I finally am going to get one!!!!!!  I'm trying to decide between a Tribute and a Skylark.  Does anybody have any experiences with both of these?  Tonal differences?  Weight issues?  Comfort and Feel?  Preferences?

I've decided that on whichever one I get, I would like to have similar woodwork and design to Rosie, a beautiful guitar.  I love the stripes down the middle.  Are they laminate or is it a neck-thru?  As both a cat lover and a lifetime Deadhead, I was hoping to get a picture of a cat under the stars inlaid in the circle below the bridge.
The question is....do I get all of this done on a tribute or a skylark?......hmmmmmmm
....I wonder how much this will all cost?

Charley:

If you like the stripes you won't be happy with either a Tribute or a Skylark.  The stripes are the laminates in a neck though construction.  Both the Tribute and Skylark are set neck construction - hence no stripes.  Rosie is a custom made neck through Tribute.  I don't know how much extra this would cost, but I suspect it is quite expensive.  If you like the neck through design (my personal preference) you might want to check out the Further, based on Jerry's Alembic Wolf guitar.  Prices for Alembics can be found here:

What about tonal differences between the Tribute and Skylark?  I really like both, but would like something with the most tonal possibilities.
Anyone know if it is possible to get a tribute or skylark with a neck-thru?  If so, how much?

Charley:

Alembic will do almost anything you want.  As stated above, for example, Rosie in the custom archive is a neck-through Tribute.  As for flexibility, the Tribute will give you more as the electronics are a bit more sophisticated than the Skylark.
