I did say that it's only something that I've read!!!!!!

In the US we have this new thing called Homeland Security.  If your going to discuss over the web the procurement of funds through illicit means, you would be well advised to use a code of some kind.  The appearance of the phrase rob a bank probably means this thread has already been downloaded and electronically analyzed in Langley, Virginia.  Identities are being established and physical addresses determined; agents on the ground are being notified and mobilized.  Don't be surprised if there is a knock at your door in the next five to ten minutes.

Hi Dave,
not bad! Not bad!
I found out some other interesting news about JE?s Spyders (the two ones with the pointed headstock)

It seems that the one which is at the HRC was his main bass back then. This is exact the same bass he used in the video sequenques of the Shepherds Bush concert etc.
This one has some significantly body differences to the other one:

1. The neck pickup is mounted closer to the end
of the neck than on the second one
2. The dummy pickup is slightly broader than
   on the second one.
3. The upper body horn joins the neck at the
21th fret while the second one joins at the
   20th fret.
4. The body on the HRC bass is slightly longer
than the second one (note the positions of
   the power supply jack!)

The purpleheart is very noteworthy indeed

I heard that the bass failed at Live Aid because one of his techs had done some custom rewiring for some reason, and had mistakenly crossed the wires that went to the battery.  This wasn't discovered until he went to plug the bass in on-stage to do to the show!

Oliver, you're closer to Berlin than I am.  Perhaps if you end up with this bad boy, you'll be persuaded to let go of your Spyder???

Ha!  Mike

Mike,
I would like to. But for this I would need some good stockings as Paul TBO would say now.... :-)

Very Nice Purpleheart Exploiter! A have had people mistake my 83' 5-A Flame Top Exploiter for a Spyder bass as well.
