There aren't many Classico photos around, so I thought I'd add several. -Jon

Awesome, great pics! I don't want to sound too greedy, but can you take a picture of the serial #?

I've never played an upright, so the learning curve is steep...  However, learning something new keeps you fresh.

Thanx!

I was wondering where they put the number on a Classico, play (and learn) in good health!

Simandl is always the best bet in learning positions, scales, arpeggios etc. Welcome to the world of the Double Bass! I can't seem to put mine down, but it's a 3/4 fully carved Sinoman Bass. Wait till you get to the thumb position which traditionally starts at the 12th fret.I'm going to have to start working out on my Distillate because I haven't played it in over a month and I have some electric gigs coming up soon. Good Luck.

Hey Jon,
How is the progress going with the Classico?

jon_jackson

Pretty slow. I had to put it aside for some other things, so haven't had the time to get any muscle memory going. Mostly been working with my electrics.

Ah..I understand that! I bought a Digital Piano over 6 yrs ago and this past year I finally got around to really committing to able to play it. Now I am at the point where the Muscle Memory (tactile) is starting to kick in. It was really frustrating because I had to literally start spelling out-loud, every chord again & that was really frustrating since I don't have to think about spelling chords/arpeggios when playing the basses. Just hang in there! Try learning Killer Joe which is a really easy tune & that might prime the memory muscle pump!! Happy New Year!!!!

Hi there all,  I have often wondered what these are like for slap[ rockabilly style etc] as I have never even seen one in the flesh.Do they lend themselves to that style and also do they have any body sensors.

Hey Jon it looks like we are almost alembic twins again, I've just bought a 1994 flame maple classico from a seller in mainland europe and in process to sort out the logistics of getting it from there back to the UK in the safest way possible. I wanted one a couple of years back but wasn't in a position financially to acquire it and mentioned it to George Price who wasted no time in snapping it up. Like you when you got yours, i'm a non upright bass player so steep learning curve is ahead for me too.
The sound of Alembic is medicine for the soul!

Way to go, Jazzy.  8)

There's a Classico less than an hour from me, but I'm afraid to go look at it. That's the first step to scheming, you know...  ::)
