It has been a while since I 've used the Alembic forum, and as some of you, especially poor nigel might remember, I was chasing a brown or a short scale series 1.. I picked this up from a fellow Australian about 2 or 3 years ago and cleaned it up a bit.
I would love to find some original pics from  before I restored it , as I lost my pics in a computer tragedy.
It is a 1980 model and was covered with a very crazed aged yellowed finish[ to the stage of alligator skin texture]. Also  a few attempts at strap pin balancing and also I have placed a veneer of tasmanian musk on the peghead,it was originally zebrawood. The previous owner had used the forum on various occasions over the years and I would not be surprised if there are  pictures somewhere.

Serial Number would help a lot.  I can no longer search the Alembic Club site for some browser mishap reason.  So I can't be of much help to you.  From what I can see, the bass looks great.  I love the short-scale basses for their large sound and easy playability.  I wish I could help you on your quest.  Good luck.

Poor Nigel, try using Firefox as your Browser.  We use Windows 7 Premium in my office, and there is a conflict between Adobe Flash and Windows 7 when using Internet Explorer.  I could not view ay of the cool videos that the club members posted until I downloaded Firefox.  Good Luck!
 
As for the bass, always great to see a well experienced warrior restored to glory.  Great Job!  Where does the Tasmanian Musk come from?  What are its sonic properties if used for the body?

I restored it myself, and as far as tasmanian musk is concerned, I dont know much about it other than it comes from tasmania, the lower island of Australia .A freind of mine was sent enough to make a writing desk and had a scrap left over, Apparently very rare. I have no idea about its sonic properties as I have only seen a veneer piece.I finished the bass in 2pac  70% gloss,but feel I should have used more gloss on the headstock as it doesnt do the musk justice.

The only things I still want to do for now  
is replace the 5 pin cannon output with a black with gold pins [ as it appears to me gold is not available] and redo the back brass plates.
