I just bought this last week from the Low End Bass Shop. It's a 92 Elan. 22 years I had to sell my Spoiler due to finances but I always told myself one day I would buy another Alembic. After selling some gear and saving, I was finally able to make that wish come true. It sounds wonderful when playing direct but when I play through the SF-2, it sounds amazing. I'm really happy to have an Alembic again.

Yes, That's the one. I finally used it today at rehearsal and everybody loved it. The tone is absolutely incredible. 
   

Elan basses are wonderful as you have discovered.

+1 on the elan. one of the snappiest basses i ever owned.  still have pangs of remorse about selling it but c'est la vie.
