Now I have it straight from the source that the SF-2 is the way to go. And it works out too, because I'll never be able to afford Pluto gear on an auction basis. It's there-and-gone way too fast.

sparechaynge - What do you expect these units (Pluto filters, SF-2) to do? What do you want them to do? Did you ever check back on the thread you started about the SF-2?

sparechaynge

I do check that thread and this one pretty regularly. I have an expectation that these units will manipulate the instrument's signal in such a way that a wider variety of tones can be achieved. Not in the sense that a Strat will sound like a Les Paul,(although that wouldn't be a disadvantage) but subtly definitive pallet of bass/mid/treble sounds with a sort of 60s/hi-fi feel.
Again, lack of experience and hero worship influences this thought.

I forgot to include this in my previous post, but I have tried other EQ devices both in amp and pedal form and they all seem to be very weak or artificial sounding. I am looking for something more powerful and more musical.

Do you play bass or guitar?

sparechaynge

I mostly play Guitar, but bass was my first love and is rapidly becoming my focus. I like both for different reasons, and its cool to have two different perspectives on the same song.
