Good day gentleman,
I currently have a MakrBass 151 combo amp. I am looking to expand my rig to play at small to medium sized venues. I would like to stay with a small and portable rig. Getting old...
How many of you use MarkBass based rigs?

crobbins

I use a MarkBass rig, and love it...

Nice set Craig. Beautiful bass too!!!
Are those the 122(12 inch) or the 102(10inch)? What is the largest venue you have played with your MasrkBass setup?

crobbins

Those are 10inch speakers...

A 4-10 setup will perform very good for almost any situaction you may need. Plenty of room/volume on stage even if you're at a larger colisium or outdoor event.
As long has you have the stage volume needed the mains will take care of the house.
Some modest members here may be a little reluctant to give size club/venue where they may play or have. Be it a club of 50 or 50,000 I believe its about stage volume.
A 4-10 rig will kick it up plenty! And a Mark Bass rig has plenty of power and looks! Me personally, currently I'm a Meas Boggie guy.
Craigs rig is cool since he can do a smaller gig with just the 2-10 combo.

Craig

What electronics package do you have on the Orion?

billostech

As always thanks gentlemen. I will be using signature electronics. Will there be a need for an Alembic preamp with a rig setup like Craig's?

crobbins

My Orion has Essence electronics.
Sounds great, and simple to use.

billostech

Craig,
Have you ever used any Alembic preamps?

Years ago I had a series 1 bass (somebody kick me for selling it, but I needed the money)I used an F2B preamp into an Ampeg 8x10 setup. The Cab could be divided in half  which I did with the preamp, highs  4x10, lows into 4x10. Sounded great. Somebody kick me for selling that rig.

Craig added a 2-10 cab to his 2-10 combo w/built in amp. You could simply add an external cab to your 1-15 combo.
A preamp would only be required with an independant amp powering independant cabs.

billostech

Hey Craig, no kicking man!!! LOL
I wonder how a 2-10 cab will sound with that
1-15 combo.

crobbins

It will sound great.....
I used the Alembic preamp, into a Furman EQ, into a QSC power amp.

billostech

I will head on over to the local GC and try it out. Thanks guys.

Craig,   Is the Furman EQ a PQ-3 Parametric ?
