Weird....would love to listen to...

I've had Royale (with maple finger board) for about two years. She's in regular rotation with my other Alembics - all of which have ebony finger boards. IMO, there is little or no tonal difference between the maple fingerboard and an ebony fingerboard. Notes explode off of this bass mainly due to the three purple heart neck lams and the overall tone is pretty bright, which is perfect for rock or slap.

Sorry - not a fan of maple fretboards.  Don't like the look, don't like the feel (at least on finished ones, and I've only come across one that wasn't), like the look even less after it starts to wear & get dirty.

But for a maple 'board, that's pretty nice.

I like it - it's a different effect, it emphasizes the vector of the neck lams in a way that the standard ebony fingerboard doesn't.

It does, just for ebony neck lams. :D

I love the look of maple on guitars and basses and the one in this thread is beautiful. Having maple top as well keeps the balance visually and I could imagine a maple neck paired with a dark wood body like for example PierreYves blackwood bass being seriously dramatic looking but still a beautiful contrast.

I had a maple finger board on a '73 Jazz, loved it.

I had a Lakland JO5 Skyline with a maple board. Never should have let that one go.
