As owner of an '81 Distillate, i was just curious how many of Distillates were made? Anyone have a good idea?

Sorry - we've never tracked individual models. There must be more than a thousand Distillates in their various forms, but I don't have a better estimate than that.

That's still an impressive number, considering they were a standard model for just a few years... (1978 - 1990-something?)

On Distillate trivia Mica, when did they become available in the U.S. markets? Seems like I read here somewhere the first ones were specifically for export to Japan... most of those I've seen were zebrawood, single AXY, and controls mounted on brass frontplate. (like Sonicus' Distillate)

2023 Mark King 5 String, Buckeye Burl via Will Gunn Guitars. With added 5-pin jack
2011 Series Custom Sans Filter 4 String: Coco Bolo
1989 Elan 6 String: Bubinga
1981 Distillate: Purpleheart Top

1981 must have been a really busy production year for them... seems like there are a bunch of 1981 models.

Maybe it's one of those things like how you don't notice maroon Honda Civics (or what-have-you) until you buy one though!   ;D
