On the top bass, the neck wood looks like maple. On the bottom bass, the neck wood looks different. Is it a different wood or is it an amber tint on maple?
 
Both are nice basses, that's for sure. What are the top woods?

I'd wager that the bass on the bottom is somewhat older and that the finish has yellowed-my '75 has taken on a similar tint.
