Just received my '77 Series 1 electronics harness back that was repaired by Ron W. New stereo jack, ribbon cable re-soldered, and preamp card refurb/service tweak with an FET replaced. My bass sounds even better, though it sounded great already. I had know idea that changing that treble pickup FET was needed, and wasn't ordered, but it was a good catch and decision by Ron. The presence of my bass has been noticeably increased--it's like a brand new fresh Alembic again, and that is a --great-- sound. Alembic simply doesn't do "ok", they go beyond the level and service of most makers.

There's a reason why, in the closing credits of "Sunshine Daydream", Ron is listed as something like "Audio DemiGod".

Think the exact phrase was "Absolute Audio DemiGod".  I have seen this flick a number of times over the years but when I watched it again last week it was the first time I noticed Ron's closing credit.

Re-distilled in an even yet more pure form.  Good deal!
The only thing that stays the same is change.

That's for sure. My '77 sounded kind of vintage to my ears---vintage sound sometimes equates to worn, and sometimes drifted old parts, I feel. The difference in my bass's tone is pretty obvious--it's a little more beastly and aggressive sounding now. Aside from the new ribbon cable, FET, trim pot, and jack I'm sure Ron went through every part on the card and changed anything not up to spec. The best thing I could have done for my vintage Alembic.
