Forgive me if this topic has been reveiled earlier, but since I've never had the pleasure of playing through an Alembic preamp, I am curious about the difference in tone shaping.
Are the basic tone shaping similar with Bright and Deep switched off?

David Houck

Hi Henrik, welcome to the board.  The basic tone shaping is the same, but the tone isn't.  The F-1X has a single tube stage; the F-2B is two tube stages.  F-1X sound in cleaner; the F-2B has more of a tube sound.  Personally, I like them both.  And yes, there have been previous threads discussing the differences between the two preamps.  Our board has a fairly nice search feature in the top right corner of the page; you should be able to find some threads that may be helpful.

Henrik, welcome to the club.

Thank you for the warm welcome. You have been digging into my account to find my first name, I see :-)
I've tried to use the Search utility, but it only delivers a bad request from my searches.
I guess it's f-1x f-2b in the seach field combined with the and option, right?! I also tried f-1x, f-2b, but with the same result.
I'll give it one more shot.

Just guessing; are cookies being blocked?

I don't call people by their usernames on this forum. I go to their listed profile and use their given name if I don't already know it.

During in person communication I also don't call folks by nicknames ? I never have.

Digging into my account ?

David is correct, we address each other by given name so please do not be offended.

You might try using Google for your searches - it's probably faster than the site's own search function ...

nordskov

I'm not offended by being addressed by my given name, on the contrary. But this is the first forum to do that, so i was a little surprised.
Not many dig into other users accounts to achieve information about them.

And by the way, I got the search engine working.

57basstra

Nordskov. What you are describing as digging into your users account is what I am under the impression is checking a profile.

If I am wrong, please correct me; but it is my understanding that the profiles here are for public access by members so we can find out more about our fellow club members. That is why some folks publish a great deal on their profiles, others not so much.

When it is termed digging into your account to achieve information about them makes me think you believe this may be some sort of clandestine, inappropriate, unsanctioned action. It has been my experience that confidential information on this forum is kept as such. .

So, with all of that being said, Nordskov, I will not dig into your account again. Pardon me for the real, or perceived, intrusion.

well... I think Henrik is positively impressed by the fact that we are taking the effort and time to look up personal information before responding, because we take care of new members as opposed to just posting this has been discussed a thousand times before, newbie, use the search feature or leave !

...and nothing else. I have read enough entries in other forums, they are just sick sometimes. Perhaps Henrik used wrong expressions, just like I did a few times by mistake. I've been called a bad acid guy, because I posted some comment and the words I wrote did not fit the intention I had in mind, not at all.

Sorry, I do not want to act as moder, just share my experience and my point of view.

As for tone shaping between the two devices, I have no idea at all...

Thanks for interpreting the digging into my user account as being a phrase of admiration. I guess my senses of perception and reality are way off the mark.

 So this sign
 :? ) is a thumbs up, huh?

Again, let me apologize to all concerned for any offenses.

If this apology offends, please, let me apologize for it as well.

And so on....

It may be that Henrik doesn't realise that his profile is available to all club members simply by clicking his username in the left hand column.

Christian, you're right on the nail, - and Graeme, you hit your thumb, I know exactly what's public available in my profile.
Sometimes expressions get mixed when english isn't your primary language.
So David, no offense. But I like your humble attitude ;-) (happy face with a fly in the eye)

Henrik, I too recently asked about the differences between the FX-1 and F2-B.

I have a feeling we have a great deal in common.

Hope weather where you live is not quite as miserably hot, humid and with no appreciable rainfall as we have had here in these parts.

I sincerely hope you have a wonderful Alembic experience.
