In a philosophical sense?

It's kind of a matter of how you hold your bass.  A lot of folks don't like the way the small standard body balances, and a lot of folks do.  Many of those that do report that they position their right arm on the body and that it holds the bass in place no problem.  Personally, the only small standard body I've played is Keith's Brown Bass; but I don't remember anything about the balance, I just thought it looked gorgeous!

I've got a small standard bass w/ anniversary electronics and the balance has never bothered me.

In my experience, these basses are best held medium to high on a wide, soft strap.  In that configuration, they're great.  I don't think they work well worn over the belt buckle, though.

I  love the small body and have no problems with balance. I can remove my hands and bow without the neck going all over the place. I do play the bass up a little higher than a Fender style bass but not so much that I'm choking myself. I will say that the bass does sit differently than a Fender style so the reach on a short or medium scale will feel more like a long scale. This doesn't bother me at all. In fact I plan my next bass to be another short scale with small body.

Thanks for all the input,i will take the risk to buy the short scale serie 1 i am loocking for, I think i can manage the different balance.
