Where do we post pics of Brown Basses in the Showcase???

artswork99

I see them in the Signature basses section.  I'll mention the lack of BB in the header and see what happens.

I guess the BB is actually a very specific Stanley Clarke model.  But we could make-up some random artist and attribute the Brown Bass to them: The Doug Brown Signature bass.  I have to admit that I had never heard of Mark King until I started hanging out here.

I'm probably wrong, but wasn't the first BB a custom for Stanley?

mike1762

It was his Series I (I THINK the second one... the first was stolen???).   I assume it had the same wood recipe.

Mike 1762 - Never heard of Mark King!!!!!! Where have you been for the last 30 years??. Okay he is very well known here in the UK and like many Brit bands they never really made it big in the USA.
You should check out the vidblog called 'Prague Proms' on the Level 42 website, a relaxed video of Mark in his studio, showing you around the place, explaining how he became a bass player and jamming to some backing track.
A great inspiration to me..

As I recall the Brown Bass is patterned after Stanley's BB (a Series I although they weren't called that back then). They come standard with Anniversary Electronics. Unlike the other non-series small body basses they have a thicker body that can accommodate Series electronics. The body is also in the older small standard shape which is a little flatter across the bottom.

For now BB has been added to the Signature sub-heading so that have a place here.  Thanks Mike!

Terry:  After I joined the club I Googled Mark King and was was quite amazed.  He's a monster player, but no... I had never heard of him or Level 42.  In my defense, I was never exposed to that type music back when I was playing pseudo-professionally (I was playing Hard Rock/Heavy Metal).  The most technical player in my genre was probably Steve Harris (Iron Maiden).

Art: My lasting contribution to the club... getting BB added to the sub-header!!!

Hah, you contribute way more than that!
