I haven't seen Phil live in years.  While his bass playing sounded great, he does appear to be a little on the frail side.  Hard to say how much longer he can keep up a rigorous touring schedule.  They sound great now so if you have the opportunity to see them, don't pass it up.

Just got back from the thursday night show in Portland. Wow, they were on fire right from the get go. Clearly they liked playing a beautiful, outdoor theater rather than the big, black, boomy box they were stuck in for the Seattle show.
I don't know if Phil had a cold... didn't seem like it, but tuesday and thursday he did have a couple of tiny coughing spells. Didn't seem cold related though. When he did sing, it sounded great. Cosmic Charlie, Box of Rain, Mountains of the Moon were the ones I remember off the top of my head. Lots of back up singing too.
At 72 years old I think Phil is in great shape, at least from my far away diagnosis. I would love for them to keep touring and making magic for many years, and it seems like they could do it with ease, but I must admit whenever I saw him cough I got a little nervous. I love Phil and want him around for many MANY more years!
Here's a little picture of last nights show. I made sure John's Alembic logo was present (since this is the Alembic forum after all!)

Great picture! When I saw him in the spring he had some kleenex with him. I agree he's doing more than almost anyone else his age, and I hope he knows how much we appreciated it.

A little off topic, but as I am listening to the past week' worth of shows on the archive.org, I have noticed the absence of soundboards since 12.31.11. Anyone here know why?

P.S. JK's Alembic sounds killer!

While my passion for my Alembic is still as strong as ever, after seeing Phil play his Modulus 6 string, I found one here locally that felt just right.  I plan on taking ownership of it on Saturday.  It will be a nice compliment to my Alembic.

Nice, Bones! Every time I see Phil it make me want a 6'er. Glad you found one that's right for you.
