Hi experts. This just appeared on that website. Did Alembic ever make such a beast? Thanks for your comments in advance!

Logo, pickups and top hat knobs look Alembic as well as the inlay but what throws me is the bridge assembly, I guess Mica will have to confirm this one !

Danny Gatton replaced the neck screws on his guitars with heli-coils and machine screws. It made a huge difference in tone.

Now they make neck joint locking systems that work better, are much cheaper and are way easier to install.

Anybody who is reasonably handy with a cordless drill can replace the neck screws in a couple of minutes and lock that sucker down.

Bill Kirchen did his '66 Tele that way (or actually, IIRC, had Dan Erlewine do it), not for tone, but to facilitate repeated break-down for flying as carry - on (detune a bit, capo to hold the strings to the head, a minute or so with a cordless screwdriver, and Bob's yer uncle - briefcase guitar with no wood strippage).
If you're not in the habit of removing the neck often, you can greatly enhance the grip by reaming the neck holes just enough that the screw threads slide through, thus only biting in the body wood; pulls the neck very tight into the joint.

Oops - those directions are, of course, 180? from accurate; through the body biting into the neck.  Boy, is my face red.

My Modulus has metal inserts like this. It makes for a very tight connection.
