So I am thinking of bidding on a set of PJ/AE-1 activators on Ebay that come with a volume/volume/tone setup.  What would it take to modify this to a volume, pan, filter, Q switch setup?  Can I just order these parts a wire it myself, or...?

My guess is that the tone is a filter (i.e. Persuader electronics); so you would only need the Q switch, which is an easy add.  As far as going from v-v to v-p, I can't recall what's involved with that.
